Cooper turned 5, and Emmi 2.  Yes they share a party (for now at least)…..so I try really hard to make it the best I can.  This year we decided on a carnival theme.  Yes, I tend to be a little crazy when it comes to details, but I just can’t help it.

My planning started with the fabric choices.  I went to Fabricland and picked out a LOT of fabrics that felt appropriate, with a classic touch.  Tammy laughed at me most of the time…..because I changed my mind a few times

My awesome sister Jen, picked up the candy from the Sweet Shoppe in Fernie……so great.  She also baked the yummy cakes and let me decorate them…..which proved to be slightly difficult in my super warm house (which resulted in the rainbow bit gumball cake and a fabric covered 3 tiered lemon cake)…..Love you Jen <3

So I made the canopy, the banners, the runners….and ordered some of the wonderful goodies from etsy (such as the popcorn boxes, the paper straws and the bakers’ twine).  I made the party hats, the initial mirrors and all the pinwheels, picks, etc.  It was so fun, it really was.

Every party MUST have fresh flowers….especially in old beautiful jars.

5 bags of gumballs, $1 each thanks to the dollar store. YAY.

I can’t believe I havn’t posted this yet ~sigh~, terrible of me.

My ‘big’ sister.  Strong as anyone I know.  It’s unbelievable.  Her battle with cancer began Sept 2011.  I can’t wait to see her healthy again…..it’s going to happen, I know it will.  Look at her smile….you can’t even begin to imagine what she has been thru.

i love you. today. tomorrow & always.  your courage and faith inspires me every day.

I am inspired by EVERYTHING.  seriously.

My kids, my friends, things I see…but most times it’s simple things that set me off creating (or a text with a picture from Tammy, lol).  When you have a creative mind it can almost be a bad thing…..I can’t stop.  I want to change things constantly…..paint colors, fabrics, decor….., most of all my mind, it’s baaaad.  My poor husband.  Poor Tammy.  But it does have it’s blessings too.  I feel like I can make the most out of almost anything…..give me a job and I can nail it (or at least I think I’ve nailed it, lol).  I’m the kind of perfectionist, who can spend a whole day in my pajamas’, shhh don’t tell.  Or as Tammy would say, I would just wear a pretty lace scarf with my pajamas’ to the grocery store….lol, and lip gloss.  I can’t help it, it’s the country girl in me, that and I have 3 kids which leaves me with no energy sometimes to care about what I wear, as long as my kids look good

I get a lot of questions about Emmi’s clothing…..and honestly, most comes from a mix of GAP & Joe (Fresh).

 This for example:  Rose leggings from GAP and the denim shirt dress is from Joe (Fresh)

I try to take pieces that I can mix and match, ones that have no characters or anything like that….clothes I would wear or ones I could if I looked cute in a romper (lol).

So have I ever confessed my true loves of wedding photography…..if not, here they are (in no particular order)

1. Jasmine Star.  I LOVE her.

2. Brooke & Michele from White Linen.  I also LOVE them.

I love both of these photographers’ work.

Of course Jamine Star is the inspiration I will probably never meet, but her blog is one of the only ones I read on a regular basis.  I just like her.  She is funny…and real.

B&M.  We have also never met….BUT, I think they are amazing!  I think of any photographers’ work I love, it’s always theirs.  It’s so soft, crisp and clean….with a romantic touch.  Wedding season fills me with excitement for not only my own weddings, but theirs.  I think I sometimes imagine myself with them, lol……me and Tammy.  It’s funny, but I can remember ‘meeting’ Michele thru a Facebook group for kiddie pictures…..I LOVED her then, almost 5 years ago (when we both first started taking photos, I think).  And then came Brooke…..and I feel in love, lol.  They don’t know I am writing this all about them, so when they find out I hope they don’t think I’m crazy, or a stalker or anything……just someone who l.o.v.e.s what they create.

3.  Tammy, oh Tammy.  What would I do without her.  Honestly, sometimes you meet people in your life by chance who become part of you, like you don’t know what it was like before them.  She is one of those people.  She is my opposite in many ways, but we are so in sync when it counts.  So thank you, now, and always, for being the EXACT person I needed in my life.  And yes, you are going to put more hilights in my hair….thanks.

I LOVE to design.  I LOVE to create.  And together with Tammy, who also loves those things, we come up with all sorts of ideas.  For the home.  For daily life.  And most of all…..for WEDDINGS!

We LOVE weddings.  If we would, we would have a wedding design company, or better yet, weddings and home decor.  Someday we plan to open a studio and shop….full of all the goodies we love to create, but for now, it’s coming in blog form

So since it’s not Friday, but I can’t wait to do a post here is the first.  I hope they get better with time, and when I have an actual office so I can concentrate where the kids are not flying around (but I do love them so).

I met Celia thru Jen at La Di Da Lane Photography (Jen is married to my cousin-by marriage, Derek….they are a wonderful family with 2 little boys).  I am so excited to be shooting their wedding this summer outside of Cranbrook at a beautiful guest ranch.  Wedding colors are peach and cream……YUMMMM.  I love meeting a couple and intantly knowing you were meant to shoot their wedding.  I feel this way about these two…..her family has feed lots, with cows to those of you who don’t know what that it……and I grew up around farming, and still LOVE my horses.  I can’t wait to meet her family….does that sound strange??!!

Celia and Tanner are adorable.  Sweet, funny and full of life.  Tammy my faithful friend, made the trip with me.  I love road trips with her….well, I love pretty much everything I do with her, lol.  We are so looking forward to the summer, and we can’t wait to share wedding images of these two love birds <3

I love these of the lake.  I grew up skating on that same water…..makes me smile looking at them.

Oh Gus…..we thought you were a dummy, but you showed us, cute boy.

These last shots are over-looking lake Koocanusa.  Spent MANY summers on that water too.  It’s one of the most beautiful places.  I was so thankful I remembered how to find that spot.  Although there were are few youngins out there shooting coyotes….lol, gotta love the South Country.  At least I know Tammy loved it

Pretty little girl.

We all have loved you since the moment we knew you were coming, and even more since the instant you took your first breath.  You are a stunning girl.  Biggest blue eyes full of wonder.  I am in awe at how much you are loved by your brother and sister…..the way they touch you, look and you, and speak to you is incredibly beautiful.  You are loved beyond words & mommy loves nothing more than to watch you grow, but slow down baby, please, just a little.

How GORGEOUS is this blanket I had custom made for Harper by Lindsi from people webs, you can visit her etsy page here.  She is so sweet, and I left the order to her creativity and was so thrilled when it arrived (so happy she is making me another, much larger). So thank you Lindsi…..we will cherish it always.

I don’t ever look at others and wish I had what they have……I wish they could have what I have.  My only wish this year is for my sister to get healthy again, and for our dear friend Chris’s wife to also beat this terrible disease they call Cancer.  It breaks my heart to think of any parent no being able to watch their babies grow.

Harper Lynn Postnikoff was born.  This is how.

During

I have to admit that I am blessed with the gift of ‘easy’ child birth.  We left for the hospital, which is 40 minutes away, at approx. 8:00pm.  My contractions had gotten quite close together, and were what I considered painful enough to warrent going to the hospital, especially based on my previous delivery with Emmi, which was also fast.  We got there, my amazing nurse Yolanda (who was also there when Emmi was born), hooked me up for a strip test.  I had NO contractions that hurt while it was going on……lol, geesh!  But when it was done, she told me they were regular, every 2 mins.  She asked if I wanted to stay for an hour to see what happens and Jake and I both agreed that it was probably a good idea, so we didn’t have a baby on the side of the road.  And as soon as I stood up, they started again

We went to our room.  I requested only one thing……a tank of Nitrous. I have given birth 3 times without the use of drugs….and I say the gas doesn’t count, lol.  This saved me during Emmi’s birth, for the whole minute I used it, and after I swore I would take advantage of it with any deliveries to come & believe me, it helped.  I was very lucky to get the only room in the hospital with a bathtub!  I love baths, so Jake filled it right away.  We wheeled over the ‘gas’ and I hopped in.  Jake turned on my relaxation music on the iphone, and away we went!

I love that I can hop in a bath, the nurses can leave, and I can just go thru the labour process.  I had amazing nurses.  AMAZING.  Jake would call Yolanda when I asked to be checked, which with me is often, it goes so fast.  She check my progress at about 10:00pm, and I was 5-6 cm, and everything was going well, nothing too intense.  Then the rest seems a blur.  I remember my mom coming and Tammy, my amazing friend and wonderful photographer showing up…….and at about midnight I knew something changed…..I am one of those who just knows when it’s time.  I hopped out of the tub, jumped on the bed and was VERY ready for things to happen…..too bad for me I was only 8cm and the ‘water’ was totally in the way.  My Dr. was 25 mins away.  AHHHHH.  So, I sucked on that Nitrous, grabbed the bed rails like I was holding on from falling off a cliff and tried to survive until she arrived.

In Trail, you get whoever is in OB that day.  For me, it was an amazing Dr.  She has 4 young kids of her own and just has the most relaxed, wonderful personality.  We had met a few times and we were a perfect match.

Honestly, this part took all of about 10 mins…..I’m pretty sure. She came in, walked over to me, looked me in the eyes and asked how I was…..I smiled & laughed (I was inhaling gas don’t forget).  She broke my water and in that second I asked if I could push.  I don’t recall getting a response, so as Tammy says, I threw my left leg over, rolled to my back and pushed.  There was Harper’s head.  I know.  One push.  So in my images, that I can not share since they are a tad graphic, it shows the Dr. with no gloves on holding a piece of gauze on Harper’s head to hold her in……a few moments later, they asked me to push again, and in a HUGE gush of water, out came my beautiful baby girl.

I remember hearing my mom say it was a girl. ~sigh~

Surrounded by some of the people we love the most, I gave birth to another perfect little being.  So blessed.

I laugh with the nurses and Dr’s when they say I was meant to have babies…..and Yolanda still can’t believe that I went from 8cm to delivery in almost an instant.  Another blessing I guess <3

After

A HUGE thank you, to all our friends and family for your love, support and warm thoughts.  It’s been a tough few months since we found out my older sister has cancer.  I love her so much, and it hurts me so deeply that she is sick.  Having Harper has only make me realize even more how the little things in life are what matters.  I have slowed my pace since the moment she arrived, and I made a promise to myself, that for the sake of eveything I love, that I will never again let anything get in the way of my time with the ones’ I love.  I watch them grow so fast, and the moments they make me crazy are the same moments that make me smile…….I was a kid too.  Crazy.  Busy.  Cheeky I am certain.  But I will love these moments, all the moments.  Because in the end all you have are the memories.  I plan to make them good ones’ and I am amazed every day.

For my babies.  I love you so.
